Earth Day happens on 22nd April every year. It started in 1970 to help educate the public about the world’s environmental crisis and inspire action. It’s a day to learn about our planet and what we can do to help protect it, whether that’s calling for more green policies, supporting community projects, or taking individual action.
We wanted to take part and try and do our bit and people were keen to help animals in our local environment. Smaller creatures are often overlooked so we decided to make some bug hotels.
We went out to forage for natural materials to put into the hotels and then we recycled some bottles and put the materials inside. People were really happy to work independently which is great for confidence building. While we were working we spoke about earth day and what it stands for. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we will check in on the hotels to see if they have any guests!
