This year, Hanukkah starts on Thursday 7th December and lasts for 8 days. It is a joyful occasion also known as the Festival of Light. Some of our clients have been researching Hanukkah and creating items of importance to the Jewish faith.

Firstly, we have the Star of David which is a 6 pointed star made up of 2 equilateral triangles. In Hebrew, it is called the magen David, which means the “shield of David.”

The Dreidel is important during Hanukkah as it is a spinning top game which is played. It has 4 sides and each marked with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet. (Nun, Gimmel, Hey, Shin) It is believed to have been used by children who would study the Torah when they were not allowed. If they heard someone coming the would hide the Torah and play with spinning tops.

Learning about different cultures and faiths is important to us all at Space Inclusive. Being part of an accepting community is what we encourage with all of our clients and staff. We are all different and that is what makes us all, truly special!
